What do you mean by a VSAT?
The definition of VSAT is Very Small Aperture Terminal – It is communication
equipment for receiving and transmitting radio and data signals between two
geographical locations via satellite. The locations can be in different
parts of the world. As a catchy acronym it has been adopted by all and
sundry for every type of satellite product from small components of a system
to complete systems. Because the term really hinges around the small size of
the antenna it has been used to describe both one-way and interactive
two-way systems.
Link-Sat VSAT solution:
Link-Sat VSAT solution connects you to the internet via a satellite,
orbiting 22,000 miles above the earth. As a two-way satellite system, not
only can you download at speeds up to 3Mbps neither uploading nor
downloading will tie up your phone line.
What are the key features &
benefits of this product?
- Always on, high speed internet connection
- Highly reliable connection
- Wide availability.
- No phone lines required.
- No interference issues
- No boundary limitations.
- Superior customer support.
Why is it preferred?
The satellite solution has no boundaries, it can be installed even in the
most remote location; Please see the
network coverage area
Can it be affected by Interference?
No, the Link-Sat satellite equipment operates on a frequency range that is
not close to that of other wireless equipment. Several satellite dishes can
be installed in one location without any interference. C band service may be affected by local interference sources. Mounting the 2.4m antenna at ground level and hidden by walls may help.
What is the difference between Ku band and
C band?
Ku-Band:
The microwave frequency band between 11.7 and 12.2 GHz receive, 14.0 to 14.5
GHz transmit. It is more susceptible to rain fade (compared to C-Band);
however, it allows substantially smaller antennas and therefore much cheaper
and it is much more immune to terrestrial interference and noise.
C-Band:
The 3.7 to 4.2 GHz downlink and 5.925 to 6.425 GHz uplink band of
frequencies at which some broadcast satellites operate. Largely immune from rain fading and recommended for 24/7 service in very heavy rainfall areas. 2.4m dish required.
What is the coverage area of
Link-Sat VSAT solution?
Go to Link-Sat satellite beam coverage map for
network coverage.
Which satellite do you use?
NewSkies ASTRA 2B with powerful beam over West African sub continent. ASTRA 2B has
the strongest beam over Nigeria and West Africa! INTELSAT 905 satellite is used for our C band Africa service.
Am I required to have a
telephone line or microwave radio equipment?
No, except if you are interested in redistributing service or desire to be a
sub ISP.
Equipment delivery time, installation and
activation of service:
Time lines vary depending on your location.
What
is your warranty on equipment?
Three (3 months) warranty on RCST and Dish. Warranty covers defective
equipments installed using Link-Sat Accredited Installers and installation
instructions. No warranty on dish & RCST unless Anti-Lightning package is
purchased.
What is the effect of rain and weather
conditions on the service?
Link-Sat took this into consideration and choose a satellite provider (New
Skies ASTRA 2B) with very strong signal quality and powerful beam over West
Africa. In addition to the choice of satellite, we use a 2 or 4 watt BUC as
a standard to mitigate against the effect of adverse weather condition. In
Nigeria, our VSAT equipment sale to customers takes into consideration the
effect of rain and weather conditions of your area. A 1.8 meter dish is
required for customers who are located in the South Eastern and North
Eastern parts of Nigeria, or other high rain frequency areas, including PH,
Warri, Umuahia, Yola, Bauchi and Maiduguri. We provide high availability C band services in West Africa, Central Africa, North East Africa and Southern Africa. C band service is highly resistant to rain effects, but does need
a 2.4m diameter dish.
What is the difference between dedicated and shared bandwidth?
Dedicated access means that the bandwidth allocated to a client is
partitioned from the pool of bandwidth and dedicated to that customer. The
dedicated bandwidth is therefore guaranteed at all time and cannot be used
by any other client.
Can I use this service for VoIP?
Yes.
How can I guarantee your service to me?
You will sign a VSAT Service Level Agreement with Link-Sat and have the
option to download any software on the internet to monitor your bandwidth.
What is the service
availability?
We provide 99.5% service availability.
How can I become a Link-Sat Reseller?
Bringing one or more customer to the Link-Sat network, will entitle you to a
Reseller plan.
What's the commission for Reseller's?
You receive a 10% commission on bandwidth per month as well as one time 5%
commission on the equipment.
How do I get paid as a reseller?
If you have an account with us, your commission will be applied to your
account. If not, we'll instruct our Agents to pay the commission to you.
